Welcome To Maeko

At Maeko Self Help Group, we believe that sustainable communities are built when people have access to opportunities to work, learn, earn and grow.

We are more than a commercial venture. Our commitment is in enterprise development, employment creation, skills building and community empowerment.

Youth Economic Empowerment Across Kenya

Maeko Unity Group runs various projects across the country that are targeted at empowering the youths and giving them a way to earn an honest living. Here is a brief look at some of our current projects.

Car Wash

In Maguguni, Thika, Maeko has a modern and professionally operated car wash with the capacity to clean eight cars at the same time. This is not just a convenience to the locals, but also a real opportunity for Maeko members to earn a living.

Fast Foods

Maeko has invested in fast food joints in Makadara, Kendu Bay and Nakuru (coming soon), as well as a bakery in Lela. With these, members have an opportunity to put their skills to use while at the same time earning a living.

Salon & Spa

We have also invested in the beauty industry, with a modern and luxurious salon & spa in Kisumu. We offer massage, pedicure, manicure, and normal salon services among others.

MAEKO – My Lifelong Vission

This is my reflection – Francesco Vezzoso

MAEKO is the realization of one of my greatest dreams – a love that bridges the distance between Italy and Kenya. To me, Maeko stands for home, family, brotherhood, equality, respect, sharing, redemption, work, change, empowerment, and social development.

Every single project is designed with respect for local culture and traditions. I believe in transparency, human dignity, and self-reliance as the sole, absolute and true engine for social advancement.

The Maeko projects in Kenya are more than just workplaces; they are spaces of empowerment, where daily commitment and sacrifices demonstrate a drive for change – toward a new future and personal autonomy.
Maeko operates in vulnerable settings to break down the barriers that limit social and economic growth. It does not merely respond to emergencies; it invests in human capital.

Maeko stands alongside local communities, supporting young people involved in soccer, volleyball and dance programs, ensuring that the skills they acquire remain a lasting asset for the community.

Furthermore, it passionately supports and promotes humanitarian fundraising initiatives aimed at distributing essential goods in the poorest areas of Kenya.

This is the Soul of Maeko

Katiuscia’s Reflection on Maeko!

For me, Maeko means giving life and hope; Maeko is growing together. We are united like brothers and sisters to face daily challenges and grow together.
Maeko is strength and courage; it is a beautiful dream brought to life from nothing.
Maeko is a door swinging wide open towards a better future.
